Music Classes:K4 & K5 are learning about melody, dynamics, and tempo through singing and playing song games in class. "Head, shoulders, knees and toes" is a favorite. First & Second grade are learning rhythm and patterns by playing snap, clap, slap. They also are learning to sing both in a group and solo. Learning "Alouetta" in French along with dance moves brought fun into the class. Third & Fourth grade are learning the proper way to handle certain instruments. Playing the recorder helps teach students about pitch and melody while learning to read notes and pitches in music. |

Fifth & Sixth grade are learning about instrument families and when certain instruments were first popular. They are learning that music from many time periods, such as the Baroque and Romantic eras, are used in our world today. When hearing songs from composers like Mozart and Beethoven they were surprised to find the songs familiar. Seventh & Eighth grade have learned musical notation and pitch, rhythms, dynamics and tempo. The African drums were a means to reinforce their knowledge of the skills learned. They are also learning about current music media and are directing their own music video.
