Welcome to Thomas Heyward Academy. We’re so glad you’re here and exploring what our school may offer your child and your family. Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions a family makes, and we consider it a privilege to walk alongside you during that process.
Located in Ridgeland, South Carolina, Thomas Heyward Academy serves students in grades K1–12 and has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence, character development, and community involvement. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to educate the whole child—academically, socially, and ethically—while preparing students for success in college and beyond.
At THA, students are known, supported, and challenged. Our small class sizes allow teachers to build meaningful relationships with each child and tailor instruction to individual strengths and learning styles. A strong, college-preparatory curriculum is paired with dedicated faculty who are deeply invested in student growth—both inside and outside the classroom.
Beyond academics, Thomas Heyward Academy offers a well-rounded experience that includes athletics, fine arts, leadership opportunities, and extracurricular programs that help students discover their interests and build confidence. Our close-knit school community fosters respect, responsibility, and integrity, creating a safe and welcoming environment where students can thrive.
We are proud to serve families across Beaufort, Jasper, and Hampton counties and are excited to welcome new families who are exploring private education for the first time. With the support of the South Carolina Education Scholarship Trust Fund (ETSF), a Thomas Heyward education is now more accessible to many families than ever before.
