Music

Our music department is one of the most diverse and unique programs thanks to the sponsorship and support of Mrs. G’s Music Foundation.

Welcome to THA's Music Program!

Music Instruction begins in K4 and continues throughout the 12th grade.  The lower school music program operates on the premise that all children are born with musical potential.  Instruction provides many opportunities to develop each student's innate musicality.  In the higher grades, music electives are offered for students who wish to deepen their musical study.

The benefits of music education are immense and highly beneficial to students. Music positively impacts a child’s academic performance, assists in developing social skills, and provides an outlet for creativity that is crucial to a child’s development. Music education catapults a child’s learning to new heights, and because of this, it should always be considered a pivotal part of a child’s educational process.

The THA Music Program strives to develop the creative potential in each student, a process that is both intellectual and experiential. Students, Pre-K through 12th grade, learn to understand, participate, and enjoy the art of music as a lifelong activity. They develop skills in memory, discovery, self-expression, perseverance, collaboration, concentration, and responsibility. Whether a student plans on pursuing a career in music or not, there is a place for everyone in the music program.

Our talented, passionate music instructors have received additional music training in programs such as Modern Band Summit, Little Kids Rock, and The World Drumming Program. Certifications in these cross-cultural and curricular programs provide enhanced collaboration and connection through music.

Our music department is one of the most diverse and unique programs thanks to the sponsorship and support of Mrs. G’s Music Foundation. The Foundation was established in 2010 by The Gretsch Company’s Executive Vice President and CFO, Dinah Gretsch, with the goal to fund music teachers, support artist residencies, and supply musical instruments to rural schools. She also provides grants to children to attend guitar and drum camps, all in furtherance of the Gretsch family mission to “enrich lives through participation in music.”

The Gretsch Company is a family business, globally recognized for manufacturing high-quality drums and guitars since 1883. Fifth and Sixth generation family members are proud alumni of THA.
