Thomas Heyward Academy has over 1,800 graduates who live across the nation, and even the world. As the Alumni Association, our goal is for all Alumni to stay connected! Our website is a resource for you to stay updated on current happenings at THA, read news about your classmates, and even give back to the school we all love! The Alumni Association strives to continue supporting THA through fundraising and events such as the Spring Gala and the Yearly Annual Fund.

Firefighter Johnny Brendlen graduated graduated from Thomas Heyward Academy in May of 2019 and is now a full time dispatcher for Jasper County Communications. Awesome job "JB"! THA Class of 2019, Johnny Brendlen staged a fire engine, made his hydrant connections and pumped for the first time in his career. Click the link to watch "JB"!
Firefighter Johnny Brendlen started his career with RFD as a cadet at the age of 14, and is now driving to medical calls and MVA's, fighting fire and now training on pumping.
THA Alumni Spotlight- Dr. Chris Lassiter (Class of '94) received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Furman University. He graduated from Duke with a PhD in Genetics in 2005. That same year, Chris arrived at Roanoke College. He teaches embryology, cell biology, and immunology. He is the advisor for the Biology Club and runs an active research lab with students here at the college studying hormones in developing embryos through genetic engineering. He received the Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2010 and is currently the Director of Undergraduate Research. Chris teaches a travel course on National Parks taking students to the desert southwest and, in his own travels, has visited over 340 of the national park areas in the country.

Teri Ranly is a graduate of THA, Class of 1999.
She graduated from USCB with an Associates in Science and
Technical College of the Lowcountry with a Paralegal Certificate. Teri is
happily married to her husband, Ben for almost 17 years and
has 2 beautiful children, Michael (15 and a freshman in high school)
and Abby (11 and in 5th grade). They lived in Summerville, South
Carolina, for the last 6 years, previously San Diego, California, due
to the Marine Corps, and Houston, Texas. Teri is currently a Family Law
paralegal at a boutique law firm in Charleston, SC.
